Please join us in welcoming a new member to our team: Emily Coolen!
Those who Dalplex members might recognize Emily as she is a former personal trainer and member of Dalplex's Client Experience Team!
Emily's Bio
Emily completed her Master of Science in Physiotherapy at Dalhousie University in 2021.
She is no stranger to the world of athletics; having competed as a child and teenager in platform diving, swimming, water polo, and track and field. She received her personal trainer certification at the age of 18 from the International Sports Sciences Association in 2011, before deciding to pursue further education. In 2016, she received her BSc in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University and graduated with first class honours.
Through her studies and work, Emily found a passion for working with older adults as a personal trainer. She enjoyed working with people to help them develop independence and return to their enjoyed activities. Ultimately, it was this passion that encouraged her to pursue a career in physiotherapy.
As a physiotherapist, Emily sits as the Treasurer of the NS Orthopaedic Section. She is furthering her education by completing her levels in manual therapy from the National Orthopaedic division, as well as acupuncture level 1 from Acupuncture Canada. In her spare time, she can be found hiking, surfing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and training her rescue dog Tally.
