The time has come for the annual Feed NS Stuff-A-Bus program! Athletics and Recreation is proud to be partnering with Feed Nova Scotia for their annual food drive that supports thousand of families throughout the holidays.
From November 18 until December 5, please help us support local communities by bringing non-perishable donations to Dalplex. There will be a blue bucket in the lobby to collect donations. The bus will be coming to pick up the donations on Friday, December 6.
Did you know that:
- 22% of Nova Scotians are living in households that are food insecure
- Over 46,000 Nova Scotians were supported by food banks in 2022 and over 14,700 of them accessed the food bank for the first time.
- Black households in Canada experience food insecurity at a rate of 3.5 times more than white households.
- Approximately 30% of Indigenous households are food insecure compared to about 11% white households.
All donations are appreciated, but Feed Nova Scotia is especially in need of nutritious food that help make up a main meal.
This includes:
- Soups and stews
- Peanut butter
- Cereal
- Canned vegetables and fruits
- Canned meat, fish, and beans
- Rice
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Baby food and formula
- Meal replacement drinks
- Canned and powdered milk
New, unopened personal hygiene and household items are also accepted.
Help us block hunger on November 22!
Cheer on the Tigers at their November 22 women's volleyball game and help Feed NS! Anyone who brings a donation to the game will get a free popcorn!
Thank you in advance for doing your part to support the community we live in!
