Sailing
The Dalhousie Sailing Club is a collection of students ranging from experienced racers to first-time sailors.
In order to accommodate as many sailors as possible, Dal Sailing has a competitive team and a recreational team.
The competitive sailing team practices and races in 420s, a 2-person dinghy. Practices will take place out of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax’s Northwest Arm. The Dalhousie Sailing Team is a member of the Canadian Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (CICSA) and competes in regattas across eastern Canada.
Recreational sailing is available for Dalhousie students with or without sailing experience. If you have always wanted to sail or have just taken a break from the water and are itching to get back in a boat, the recreational program is a great option.
The recreational team sails J-22s, a twenty-two foot boat with the capacity of 5-6 people including a qualified skipper. Rec sailing sessions will take place 2-3 times every Saturday starting in September until the end of October.
2020: Dal sailors competed in Florida and the team was able to win 2nd place after a long week of racing.
Membership fees will apply to both competitive members and recreational members.
