Dalplex offers a wide array of fitness classes and programs led by a team of top quality, energetic instructors, with over 35 classes available per week.

Our goal is to meet your health and wellness needs through a knowledgeable, friendly and professional approach to fitness. We encourage you to ask questions, get to know our instructors and attend a variety of classes to find out what you like best.

A complete schedule of classes is also available online or call our Fitness Hotline at 494-2119, which is updated daily for class cancellations or location changes.

Fitness classes may move to the Studley Gymnasium or Dance Studio during exam periods, special events, etc. 

Tips for New Participants

  • All classes are on a drop-in basis - no pre-registration is required.
  • Remember to wear comfortable, cool clothing, athletic footwear, and bring water.
  • Start gradually and work at your own pace.
  • Beginners are welcome at all classes, but many will find Body Trim, Aquafit, Yogaflex and Beginner Step good introductory classes to start with.
  • It is helpful to arrive a few minutes early for all classes and to plan to stay until the end.

Fitness Class Descriptions

Aerobics

A high energy class which includes a warm up, 25-30 minutes of fun-filled cardiovascular routines, a cool down, floor work and stretching. Both high and low impact choreography will be demonstrated.

Aerobox

A cardiovascular class that will have you kicking and punching your way to a better you! All parts of a traditional workout are covered in this high energy class: warm up, 25-30 minutes of cardiovascular routines, cool down, muscular endurance, and stretching.

Aquafit

Leave the running shoes behind and join the growing numbers in the pool for a terrific cardiovascular workout that provides less stress on the joints while firming muscles thanks to water's natural resistance (deep and shallow water classes offered).

Beginner Step

A great way to learn, step-by-step (no pun intended). Skills will be introduced gradually so the new participant will feel successful. Learn technique and terminology and make the transition to regular step classes easily.

Body Trim

A great way to improve muscle tone while working your body from head to toe. This class uses resistance tubing to provide a challenging and fun workout. Class includes warm up, cool down, and floor work with abdominal training and stretching. A great class for new and experienced fitness participants.

Boot Camp

Boot camp incorporates athletic drills and body weight exercises, providing a fast-paced, interval-style workout without fancy footwork. Low impact and high impact exercises will be demonstrated, as well as lower to higher intensity body resistance exercises. Boot camp appeals to participants seeking a fitness challenge.

Cardio Blast

Hi/low floor aerobics starting with simple moves and building up to more complex choreography, with interval training. Participants will be encouraged to challenge themselves as well as choose their own level of impact and intensity.

Cardio Core

This class combines cardio burn with shaping and toning for an efficient overall workout. Class format will vary week to week with an emphasis on challenging the core with a variety of approaches that are sure to keep you motivated and never bored.

Cardio Hip Hop

Cardio hip hop is a hi/low floor aerobic class with warm up and cool down, incorporating simple hip hop progression. Participants will learn a traditional basic floor aerobics movement (such as marching), then will learn to add a little extra embellishment for hip hop flavour. Easy to follow, great for beginners.

Cardio Mixer

A class that leaves no time for boredom - combine floor aerobics, step, aerobox and body toning and you have a class that will leave you feeling like you've worked your body from head-to-toe. Class includes warm up, 30 minutes of cardio, cool down, standing or floor muscular endurance exercises, and a final stretch.

Groove Fit - NEW!

Groove Fit is a fun, dynamic fitness class taught by Dalplex personal trainer Ryan Cairns, which combines dance, aerobics, and strength training moves. You don't have to be a great dancer to enjoy this class which features hip hop, East Coast, and other dance influences. Come sweat, laugh, dance, and play your way fit!

Step

The cardiovascular section of this popular class is performed on Reebok steps and makes time fly. Stepping skills are usually mastered after attendance of approximately six regular classes. Class includes warm up, cool down, floor work, and stretching.

Strength Circuit

Shake up your toning routine and shape up your body. A variety of toning exercises will fatigue all the major muscle groups. Tubing, weights and body weight will be incorporated in a circuit routine for each targeted muscle group.

Yogaflex

Take time to focus on posture, balance, breathing while improving your strength and flexibility with a variety of yoga poses. Instructors are certified fitness leaders with yoga backgrounds. Postures are demonstrated at levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Walk away feeling more relaxed and refreshed.

Zumba ®

Learn to loosen up the hips and shoulders and shake and shimmy your way to a great cardio workout. Zumba is a low impact floor aerobics class with a warm up and cool down, spiced up with Latin music and a blend of Latin style dance movements. Highly energetic and fun!

Zumba Gold ®

Zumba Gold is a gentler introduction to Zumba, an excellent option for older adults or those just starting their new fitness routine.
