G2 Male Athlete of the Week
Wendell Vye, Hockey
Hockey netminder Wendell Vye is this week’s Dalhousie G2 Male Athlete of the Week for his outstanding play in Saturday night’s 3-2 shootout victory over the CIS second-ranked UNB Varsity Reds. Wendell kept the Tigers alive, making a total of 37 saves and stopping five of eight shots in the shootout for the win. A first-year arts student, Wendell hails from Moncton, NB.

G2 Female Athlete of the Week
Anna von Maltzahn, Basketball
This week’s Dalhousie G2 Female Athlete of the Week is third year basketball captain Anna von Maltzahn. In Saturday’s game versus the UPEI Panthers Anna led the Tigers to a four point victory with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. For her hard work on the court she was named the Subway Player of the Game. Currently Anna leads the AUS in rebounds with a total of 138 and an average of 9.9 per game. A native of Halifax, NS, Anna is enrolled in Dalhousie’s neuroscience program.

G2 Male Athlete of the Week
David Sharpe, Swimming
This week’s Dalhousie G2 Male Athlete of the Week is Halifax, NS native David Sharpe. David collected four gold medals at the 2012 Subway AUS Swimming Championships this past weekend in an exceptional performance at Dalplex pool. He defended his AUS records in the 200m butterfly and 50m and 100m backstroke as well as with his teammates in the 4x100m medley relay. David’s victories assisted Dalhousie in earning their 14th consecutive AUS championship title and he was named the AUS Male Athlete of the Meet. He is a student in Dalhousie’s science program.

G2 Female Athlete of the Week
Katie Webster, Swimming
First-year swimmer Katie Webster is this week’s Dalhousie G2 Female Athlete of the Week. At the 2012 Subway AUS Swimming Championship this past weekend Katie earned a trio of first place finishes in the 400m individual medley and the 400m and 800m freestyle events as well as a second place finish in the 200m butterfly. Her outstanding accomplishments led the Tigers to their 11th consecutive AUS championship title and she was honoured as both the AUS Rookie of the Meet and AUS Female Athlete of the Meet. Katie hails from Whitby, ON and is enrolled in Dalhousie’s science program.

G2 Male Athlete of the Week
Kenneth Rauwerda, Volleyball
Calgary, AB native and fourth-year volleyball offside Kenneth Rauwerda is this week’s Dalhousie G2 Male Athlete of the Week. This past weekend Kenneth led the Tigers to the 2012 AUS Championship title after two consecutive victories over the UNB Varsity Reds. In game one on Friday night he collected 24 points and 23 kills in Dal’s 3-1 win and on Sunday he recorded 24 points and 21 kills in the Tigers 3-1 triumph. Kenneth was also named to the 2012 AUS All-Star team for his outstanding play on the court this season. He is enrolled in the chemistry program at Dalhousie.

G2 Female Athlete of the Week
Robyn Nicholson, Hockey
This week’s Dalhousie G2 Female Athlete of the Week is fifth-year hockey forward Robyn Nicholson. On Friday night versus Saint Mary’s Robyn collected a goal and an assist to help the Tigers to a 4-2 victory over the Huskies. Saturday afternoon Dal faced AUS second-place l’Universite de Moncton and in the third period found themselves down 2-0. In an incredible effort at the end of the game, Robyn scored three goals in less than two minutes for the come-back win over les Aigles Blues. A native of Tatamagouche, NS, Robyn is a political science student at Dalhousie.

Co-G2 Male Athlete of the Week
Robert McCulloch, Track and Field
This week’s first Dalhousie G2 Co-Male Athlete of the Week is fourth-year track and field athlete Robert McCulloch. Robert set an AUS record with his first place finish in the pentathlon (3710 points) at the Subway AUS Track and Field championships last weekend in Moncton, NB. His performance included first place finishes in the high jump (2.10m), long jump (6.77m), and shot put (12.53m). Robert’s high jump height ranks him second in Canadian Interuniversity Sport. For his incredible accomplishment he was named the AUS Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year. A psychology student at Dalhousie, Robert hails from Glammis, ON.

Co-G2 Male Athlete of the Week
David Sharpe, Swimming
Swimmer David Sharpe is this week’s second Dalhousie G2 Co-Male Athlete of the Week. At the CIS championships in Montreal, QC this past weekend David earned a gold medal in the 200m butterfly setting a new AUS record time of 1:57.13. He also earned bronze medals in the 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly. David is from Halifax, NS and is enrolled in Dalhousie’s science program.

G2 Female Athlete of the Week
Chantelle Robbertse, Track and Field
Second-year track and field athlete Chantelle Robbertse is this week’s Dalhousie G2 Female Athlete of the Week. At the Subway AUS Track and Field Championships in Moncton, NB last weekend Chantelle set an AUS record of 3226 points in the pentathlon from first place finishes in the 800m run (2:27.06), 60m hurdles (10.03) and high jump (1.56m). Chantelle also received second place medals in the high jump (1.55m) and long jump (5.07m) events. A native of Burlington, ON, she is enrolled in Dalhousie’s science program.
