Memorial Arena

Please note: Memorial Arena will be permanently closing in April 2012.

Memorial Arena is Dalhousie’s ice arena facility located at the heart of Dalhousie’s Studley Campus.

The arena is a busy place serving as the host facility for:

New Arena Driveway & Main Entrance

Memorial Arena is located at the corner of LeMarchant and South Streets (across from Risley Hall) at 6185 South Street. Click here to locate Memorial Arena on Dalhousie's campus map.

Please note there is a new driveway and building entrance to the arena. Arena patrons and guests can enter via doors at the south end of the building and vehicles must now access the driveway from Alumni Crescent, off of South Street (see map below).

For guests with a mobility impairment, a barrier-free door is available on the west side of the arena, in between Memorial Arena and Studley Gym.

Quick Facts:

  • Regulation North American size ice surface (200' x 85')
  • Seating capacity of 1,146 and standing room for over 200
  • Opened on November 11, 1982
  • Named to recognize and honour Canadians who have served and in memory of those who gave their lives in defence of Canada
  • Memorial Arena replaced the former Memorial Rink that burned down in the spring of 1978, two days after spring convocation!
