Black & Gold Club
Established in the early 1980's, the Black & Gold Club has been providing assistance to student-athletes at Dalhousie University for over nearly thirty years and a great way for former athletes, fans, supporters and alumni to rally behind the Tigers.
Since 2000 the Dalhousie Tigers have brought home 63 Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championships, 2 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) national team championship titles, and numerous individual national medals.
The Tigers compete in men's and women's soccer, cross country, track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball and hockey and our rosters include over 300 athletes, coaches, trainers and managers. With all of our success, the financial burden of offering 14 varsity teams competing in the Atlantic University Sport conference is always present.
Each year teams fundraise to cover costs of exhibition play and out-of-region travel through a variety of fundraising initiatives including the:
- Dal Golf Classic
- Dal Tigers Celebrity Dinner & Auction
- Men’s Hockey Dream Draw
- Men’s Hockey Golf Tournament
- Jeff Bredin Co-ed Memorial Volleyball Tournament
The Department of Athletics and Recreational Services provides the remaining funding, with assistance coming from student athletic fees and crucial support coming from areas such as the Dalhousie Black & Gold Club.
The Club helps support student-athletes by providing financial awards, tutorial programs, and sponsoring the annual athletic banquet. Now more than ever, these are vital tools necessary to recruit student athletes in an increasingly competitive market.
Black & Gold Club event package holders are provided with ticket(s) to all Dalhousie home events and a tax receipt for $75 for $200 for individual members or for $250 you receive four tickets for each game and a tax receipt of $100 for family members. Another option is to instead sign up as a Donor Member of the Club for $200 and you will receive a tax receipt for your full donation.
Your support directly impacts our programs.
